Proposed Boat Launch (larger version)
A. A Public Boat Launch area
The Public Boat Launch area will be developed at the current single lane concrete public Boat launch just east of the Marine Atlantic Ferry terminal. The LHAFA have developed a proposal to repair the current concrete boat launch pad and construct a second concrete boat launch adjacent to the current one. In addition, we plan on constructing a floating dock system for members use which can be removed from the water each fall. Currently, we have obtained a 5-year renewable lease from the provincial government, have cleaned-up the area and installed new garbage receptacles. We have also obtained funding and hired a summer student to direct traffic, assign parking areas, provide safety information, and assist boaters wherever possible.

On Sunday 14 August, four renovated floating docks, each 12 feet wide and 17 feet long (for a total length of 58 feet) were put in place at the Public Boat. See photos in our Galley.

we have also poured an addition concrete slipway that will be pushed into place around the 23rd of August 2011.

Boating Marina Long Term Proposal (larger version)
B. Marina.
The Marina is proposed to be located in the vacinity of the condemed Coast Guard Dock (Middle Dock). We are working with the Department of Works and Transportation to remove the current condemned structure and to build a breakwater and multiple floating docks as well as a clubhouse and other amenities. We have obtained over 100,000 Kg of clean concrete aggregate for use in the construction of the breakwater and it is currently stored on site with the approval of the Department of Works and Transportation and the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. We are currently working on a lease agreement with W & T and are preparing funding proposals for this long term project.
